Capital One Arena opened in 1997 as the MCI Center, spent a decade as the Verizon Center, and is credited with pulling the redevelopment of Penn Quarter and Chinatown around it. Wizards and Capitals share it, it sits directly over a Metro station, and a publicly supported modernisation agreed in 2024 is rebuilding the concourses, clubs and seating in phases through the late 2020s.
A tall, fairly steep bowl in a tight downtown footprint. The lower level sidelines are the reference view and sit close to the floor; the club and suite ring flattens the angle; the upper level is high, and because the building is narrow the upper corners keep a clean line to both baskets. Sections change as the renovation moves around the bowl, so a seating chart from a couple of seasons ago is not a reliable guide to what a given seat sees now.

- What are the best seats at Capital One Arena?
- Lower sideline for the complete view, upper corners for value, and — while the renovation runs — the 3D view of the exact section rather than an old chart.
