Lenovo Center opened in 1999 as the Raleigh Entertainment & Sports Arena, spent a decade as the RBC Center and then twelve years as PNC Arena before taking its current name in 2024. It is shared with NC State basketball, which is why the bowl is bigger than the Hurricanes alone would need, and it has been going through a rolling renovation that has changed its capacity twice in as many seasons.
A wide two-tier bowl with a club ring between them. The 100 level along the boards is the closest complete view of the sheet, and the 100 corners are the value seat — in hockey a corner still sees both goals, which is not true of a corner seat at a basketball game. The upper level is large and steep; at centre ice its front rows are the best cheap view of a full NHL sheet in the building. Because the arena was designed for a basketball floor as much as for a rink, the distance from a given section to the boards varies more here than in a purpose-built hockey room.
