TD Garden opened in 1995 on top of North Station to replace the old Boston Garden next door, and spent its first decade as the FleetCenter and then TD Banknorth Garden — names half the city still uses for directions. The Bruins have hung banners here since the building's first season, and the rink shares the bowl with the Celtics, which is why the same section number sells for a very different view depending on the night.

This is a compact, steep, loud building, and the geometry matters more for hockey than for basketball: an NHL sheet is more than twice as long as a basketball court, so the far blue line is a long way from a front-row loge seat. The loge (100 level) along the boards is the reference view; the loge corners give you almost the same height for less. The balcony is high, but the rake is severe enough that from centre ice up there you read the whole sheet, the line changes and the breakouts — the thing casual buyers get wrong is assuming the cheap seats are worse for hockey. The seats behind a goal put you inside the noise and cost you the far end.
