This ground opened in 1998 on ninety-two acres of cleaned-up brownfield that had been the South Louisville rail yard. It was Papa John's Cardinal Stadium until 2018, then Cardinal Stadium, and since 2023 it has carried the name of a credit union that grew out of the Louisville & Nashville railroad — which is to say the railway's name came back to the railway's ground. The east side was expanded at the start of the 2010s and the north end closed in 2019.

The best detail in the building is inherited: the old rail yard's shift-change horn was kept, mounted on the north scoreboard, and it sounds every time Louisville score. The Card March sets off from the Denny Crum Overpass about two and a half hours before kick-off, behind the band and the cheerleaders. The Alley, with its lawn games and food trucks, opens four hours before. Churchill Downs is next door and you can see it from the south deck.

A nearly closed horseshoe with diamond-shaped stands and a chevron-shaped north end as the focal point, red backed seats throughout and wide concourses. The east is the modern side, with the suites and the club from the 2010 expansion; the north end is the newest work, with the football complex behind it; the south end has a standing terrace and a party deck. Late-October afternoons here are sunny and there is no cover.
