Fred C. Yager Stadium opened in 1983, funded by a member of the class of 1914, and replaced Miami Field, which had served since 1895. It is the most lopsided ground in this hub, and the imbalance is not an accident of growth but the result of a subtraction: the south stands came out in 2005, taking the capacity from 30,012 to 24,286 and leaving one end of the ground with no seating at all. The figure of 30,087 that circulates as a capacity is not one — it is the crowd that watched Marshall win here on 2 October 1999.

Arrive early for the Cradle of Coaches Plaza at the south gate, dedicated in 2009: eleven bronze statues of Paul Brown, Bo Schembechler, Ara Parseghian, Weeb Ewbank, John Harbaugh, Sean McVay and five more, all of whom passed through a university that has produced more than a hundred head coaches. Swoop comes out through smoke, the cheerleaders unfurl the flag before kick-off, and the band plays a postgame encore on the pitch. The Swine City Beer Garden has been under the scoreboard in the south concourse since 2024, and alcohol is sold without a wristband here. Two Tuesday night home games in November 2026.

The WEST stand holds more than half the total seating across seven sections and stands twenty rows taller than the east, with the press box on top and climate-controlled suites and a loge level added in the renovation work between 2015 and 2019. The EAST is the lower student and general-admission side, its bleachers added in 2005. The NORTH end has small general-admission bleachers and the performance centre behind them, which offers standing room. The SOUTH END HAS NO SEATS — the scoreboard and the plaza, and nothing else. Because the west stand is twenty rows higher, its shadow crosses onto the east side considerably earlier than it would in a symmetrical ground, which is the practical thing to know about an afternoon kick-off.
