Yulman Stadium opened on 6 September 2014 and brought Tulane football back onto its own campus after nearly forty years in the Superdome. The building it replaced in spirit was the third Tulane Stadium, home of the Sugar Bowl and three Super Bowls, demolished in 1980. This one cost seventy-three million dollars, is named for Richard Yulman, and its playing surface is Benson Field after a gift from Tom and Gayle Benson, who owned the Saints.

Tickets for the opening game sold out in fourteen minutes, which tells you what the return to campus meant. Riptide the Pelican has been the mascot since 1998. The marching band, founded in 1920, was disbanded during the Superdome years and did not formally return until 2006 — it plays the Mardi Gras parade every year. The Hullabaloo chant appears in a match programme from 1924. New Orleans in September is hot and wet in equal measure.

A single tier on both sidelines with open ends carrying party decks and terraces, so the bowl never closes. The home side holds the premium: the Glazer Family Club is fifteen hundred air-conditioned backed seats at the lower level, and the Westfeldt Terrace is three thousand backed seats above it — under a canopy, with the New Orleans skyline behind. That canopy is the only shelter in the building, which in this climate makes those seats the most sought-after in the ground for reasons that have nothing to do with the sight line. The Uptown Terrace on the west added loge boxes and drink-rail seats in 2025. The stadium was designed to take another five to ten thousand seats that have never been built.
