DATCU Stadium opened in 2011 as Apogee Stadium, replacing Fouts Field, and took its current name in a record sponsorship for North Texas in August 2023. It was the first purpose-built college football stadium in the United States to be certified LEED Platinum, and in 2012 three wind turbines went up beside it that generate around half a million kilowatt hours a year. Its identity, though, is the north end: a wing-shaped stand a hundred and six feet high that reproduces the eagle in the programme's badge and is visible from the motorway.
Boomer, a scale replica of a Mexican-American War cannon, is fired after every score and has been since 1970; the Green Machine, a 1931 Ford painted green, is driven round by the same student spirit group. The Mean Green March comes through the tailgating two hours before kick-off with the Green Brigade band, the cheerleaders and the team. The Hill, immediately east of the ground behind the visiting stands, is where most of that tailgating happens. Denton in September is hot.
Matching stands on the east and west sidelines, the winged structure closing the north end with a wide concourse wrapping round it and a children's area underneath, and a horseshoe left open at the south where the main video board sits. Twenty-one suites and seven hundred and fifty club seats on the premium side. Capacity came down slightly in 2024 when part of one sideline was fitted with permanent backed seats and cupholders — fewer people per row, a better seat. The student section sits behind the visiting bench.
