Howard Schnellenberger Field at Flagler Credit Union Stadium opened on 15 October 2011 and cost seventy million dollars; before it, Florida Atlantic played off campus at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. It is named for the coach who built the programme from nothing in 2001 having already won a national title at Miami, and for a credit union that paid twenty-two and a half million over fifteen years in December 2024. It had one other name, very briefly: in February 2013 the university sold the naming rights to a private prison company and cancelled the deal two months later after student protests.

Kick-offs are late because Boca Raton in September and October is hot and wet, and thunderstorms are part of the calculation. The Owl Walk brings the team in before the game. The building's best feature has nothing to do with football: the press box and the skyboxes look east at the Atlantic, and from the higher rows on that side you get an ocean view over the top of the stand.

A compact open-air bowl with the premium and press structure on one side and more than sixty suite and luxury seating options behind it. The steelwork was deliberately over-engineered so that a canopy could be added later and the ground could be expanded to sixty-five thousand — neither has happened, so what you sit in is an uncovered stadium with nothing overhead anywhere. The higher rows on the press side are the ones with the sea behind them. The playing surface is natural Celebration bermuda rather than synthetic, which is rare in this conference.
