Abraham A. Mitchell Field at Hancock Whitney Stadium opened on 12 September 2020 against Tulane and cost seventy-eight million dollars. It gave the programme a home of its own for the first time after eleven seasons at Ladd-Peebles Stadium across the city. The stands were engineered from the start to be extended to thirty-two thousand and beyond without structural work, which is why the concourses and the circulation feel oversized for the current capacity.

Mobile is one of the wettest and most humid cities in the country and the season opens in the middle of the Gulf hurricane season, so an early kick-off here is a genuinely uncomfortable proposition and the weather can move a fixture outright. The ground also stages the Senior Bowl and the city's bowl game, both of which moved here in 2021, and it has been in the rotation for the state high-school finals since 2025.

A horseshoe with the south end closed. Eleven elevated suites, forty-four loge boxes and club space for around six hundred and fifty with backed seats. Three social areas rather than one: clubs on the east and west concourses, and the South Endzone Terrace, a stepped deck that comes down to field level with drink rails and converts into a concert stage. Three thousand seats were set aside for students in the design. The lighting is Musco LED built for a light show and the video board is a large Daktronics unit. There are no canopies anywhere.
