This is the 1996 Olympic Stadium. It was built for the Atlanta Games at eighty-five thousand, converted as designed into Turner Field for the Braves in 1997, and converted again — by the same architects — into a college football ground in six months in 2017 for twenty-six million dollars. Georgia State's first game here, on 31 August 2017, drew 24,333, and that is still the record. Center Parc Credit Union bought the name in August 2020.
The Panther Walk goes through Victory Plaza two hours before kick-off, a train horn sounds during the game as a nod to the railway junction Atlanta grew out of, and for the 2026 opener the club revived the Braves' Friday night fireworks in the same building — the traditions of the venue outliving the sport they were invented for. Georgia State is a commuter campus, so the student block is a couple of sections in an end rather than a whole side, and it comes in through its own gate.
Do not expect a symmetrical bowl, because it is not one. The three-level structures built for 1996 were kept; a new low stand was put in close to the pitch opposite them; and the old seating behind that new stand, along with the whole upper tier of the original structure, is out of use. Roughly a third of the physical seating in the building is not on sale, which is why the ground looks far bigger from outside than the ticket map suggests. The conversion also covered some of the upper-deck seating. The tall retained structure throws a much larger shadow across the low new side than you would ever get in a purpose-built ground this size, which is the useful practical consequence of all that history. The empty steel frame that carried Turner Field's signage is still standing.
