Football was first played on this ground in September 1913 and it is the oldest on-campus site still in continuous use in top-division football — the concrete under the west stands is the original, and everything else is later. It was Grant Field until 1988, then Bobby Dodd Stadium, and the pitch has carried the Hyundai name since 2023. It sits below street level on the natural slope at the western edge of Midtown, with the Atlanta skyline behind it.

The Ramblin' Wreck — a 1930 Ford Model A Sport Coupe donated in 1961 — has led the team out at every home game since that September. The Whistle, the campus power plant's steam whistle, in place since 1892, sounds for touchdowns and for wins, and gets used on downs too. Afterwards the band plays The Horse with the crowd still in. September in Atlanta is hot and humid, and the concourses here are genuinely narrow — the east one is barely a metre wide in places.

Capacity fell to 51,913 in 2024 when seats were removed from the north-east upper corner.

Lower bowl and upper deck on both sidelines, the east deck from 1962 and the west from 1968, with the club level and the press box on the west. The north end has a lower bowl and a free-standing upper deck; the south end is closed, low and hemmed in by a campus building, with no upper deck at all. Capacity came down in 2024 when seats were removed from the north-east upper corner for a new building. The rebuild that replaces about twelve and a half thousand benches with backed seats begins after this season, so 2026 is played in the configuration described here.
