Acrisure Stadium opened in 2001 as Heinz Field, took its present name in 2022, and has been shared with the Steelers since the day it opened. It is on the North Shore by the river rather than on Pitt's campus in Oakland, and it is a horseshoe left open at the south end, which is what puts the downtown skyline behind the far goalposts. The south end was filled out in the middle of the 2010s.
The end zones get repainted between the professional fixture and the college one, and the two teams use different dressing rooms — this is a building that wears two badges. The students have a ten-thousand allocation and sit in the north end. November on the Ohio is cold and the open end shelters nobody, so a late-season ticket is a clothing decision as much as a seating one.
The building holds 68,400, but Pitt closes the sideline upper decks in 2026 and sells about 51,416.
Three levels on both sidelines — lower bowl, club level and upper deck — with the lower bowl running right round and an extra bench level on the north. The thing to know for this season is that Pitt closes both sideline upper decks for its own games, which takes the seats on sale down to a little over fifty-one thousand and concentrates everyone in the lower and club levels; the north upper deck stays open. There is almost no shade anywhere except the back rows of the lower bowl, under the overhang of the deck above.
