Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium — still Texas Memorial Stadium or just Memorial Stadium to plenty of people — opened in 1924 and was closed into a full bowl by the south end zone rebuild finished in 2021. The video board on the north end has been one of the largest in the sport since it went up, and the building now sits enclosed in the middle of the campus rather than open at one end.

Austin is the smallest big city in the sport and the campus is right in it, so the walk in comes through a neighbourhood rather than a car park. Early-season games in Texas are hot and the west side gets the afternoon sun full in the face; the east stands are the shaded side and that is worth real money in September.

Published figures range from 95,594 to 100,119 seats.

Both sidelines are double-decked and tall, and the closed south end is the newest structure with club levels and a straight view down the field. Lower sideline rows are close and long. The upper decks are steep and their front rows are the best-balanced seats here. The north end holds the video board, so seats directly under it see the field well and the screen not at all. Shade is a genuine seating criterion for the first half of the season.
