This was Arizona Stadium from its opening in October 1929 — built in a single year, paid for by alumni and the town rather than the legislature — until November 2025, when a twenty-year naming agreement with Casino Del Sol, owned by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and the largest deal of its kind in the conference, changed the name. Almost everyone still says Arizona Stadium. The first thirty rows and the south concourse are still the original 1929 structure, which is why the entrances there are narrow.
Nearly every home game kicks off after dark, and in a Tucson September that is not a preference but a necessity. ZonaZoo, about nine thousand students, fills the lower half of the east side directly behind the home bench and is the reason the east is the loud side. New lighting, a new sound system and new premium seating went in for the 2026 season as part of a wider refit.
The west stand is the original 1929 side, extended in 1965, with the press levels and the luxury boxes cantilevered out over it — that overhang is the only meaningful cover in the building. The east side has an upper deck added in 1976 over a lower bowl that was reseated in 2018. The south end is the 1950 horseshoe with the video board above it. The north end is closed by a four-storey football building, which is the tunnel the team comes out of. With night kick-offs the sun is barely a factor; the upper rows catch the desert wind and get genuinely cold.
