Canvas Stadium opened on 26 August 2017 with the first home game on the Colorado State campus in forty-nine years; before it the Rams played at Hughes Stadium, out by the foothills. It cost two hundred and twenty million dollars, paid for entirely by bond issue rather than out of fees or the general fund, and it was built in twenty-two months. It opened without a sponsor as Colorado State Stadium and became Canvas the following spring when the credit union that had bought the naming rights changed its own name.

The cannon has been fired after Colorado State scores since 1920 and is called CAMatose, after CAM the Ram, who is a live animal with a handling team. The current version of the fight song dates from 1932, and since 2025 a train horn sounds on third down. At five thousand feet the September sun is fierce enough to matter and November brings wind straight off the Rockies, so the two ends of the season feel like different sports.

That is the fixed-seat figure; with the standing-room porches Colorado State lists the stadium as expandable to 41,000.

An open bowl running north to south. The west is the main stand with the entrance, the press box and the Hall of Champions underneath; the east is a ten-thousand-seat student lower bowl; the north end is the New Belgium Porch, a standing area that ticket-holders from elsewhere in the ground can walk down to. Premium runs to twenty-three suites, eight hundred and eighty-four club seats and two hundred and twenty-four loge boxes, with a field club behind the bench. The seating decision that matters most is sun: the west side loses the sun first and never has it in your eyes, while the student east side looks straight into it all afternoon.
