Falcon Stadium was built into a natural bowl in the Rockies foothills, opened on 22 September 1962 with a 34-0 win over Colorado State and cost three and a half million dollars. At 6,621 feet it is the second-highest stadium in the top division. It has never carried a sponsor's name and it has never been symmetrical. Its capacity peaked at 52,480 between 1996 and 2004 and is now the lowest in its history, which is a consequence of quality rather than decline.

The entire Cadet Wing attends every home game. The Corps marches on in formation and then runs to its section; the Wings of Blue parachute team jumps in and hands over the match ball about twenty minutes before kick-off; aircraft fly over just before the snap; falcons flown by cadet falconers work the interval; and after every touchdown there are fireworks and the cadets come down to do press-ups. The Air Power siren is mounted above the cadet section. The Commander-in-Chief's Trophy is played for against Army and Navy.

A horseshoe rather than a closed bowl. The WEST side, with the press box for four hundred and fifty and nine skyboxes from 1991, carries two levels of seating over the main bowl with a wide walkway between them. The EAST side is a single level split into seven separate blocks, and since 2024 it holds the ninety-million-dollar East Club: eight hundred and fifty indoor club seats and three hundred and fifty COVERED outdoor backed seats, four times the toilets and concessions there used to be, and twenty-four security lanes where there were six. That rebuild is why the ground is smaller than it was. Along the walkway the walls carry Air Force's game-by-game record against every opponent it has played.
