The Shubert Organization's flagship, opened in 1913 as a memorial to Sam S. Shubert and built as one structure with the Booth behind it — the alley between them, Shubert Alley, is the private lane that became the front hall of the American theatre. The company's offices are still upstairs. At 1,502 it is a large house with three full tiers.

700 seats in the orchestra, 410 in the mezzanine, 350 in the balcony and sixteen boxes. Three levels rather than a split mezzanine, which makes it steeper than the 1920s houses around it and puts the balcony higher than most — but the rake up there is severe enough to keep the whole stage in view. The orchestra is broad and the overhang starts fairly late.
