One of only two active Broadway theatres physically on Broadway. It opened at Christmas 1924 as Universal's Colony, a cinema, and became a legitimate house in 1930 — it went back to films twice in the intervening decades before settling. At 1,763 it is the second-largest theatre on the street, and the Shubert Organization has run it since 1940.
909 seats in the orchestra, then a mezzanine split 250 front and 584 rear, and twenty boxes. That rear mezzanine is the largest single block of seats in any Shubert house and it is where the price drops sharply; because the room was built as a cinema the rake up there is generous and the whole stage stays visible. The trade is distance, and there is a lot of it.

The Great Gatsby plays at the Broadway Theatre, as of 30 July 2026. Broadway bookings change constantly, so this page does not publish a performance calendar it cannot keep honest — it gives you the room. The seating map above is the theatre itself, so it holds good whatever is on the stage.
