Built in 1917 as the Plymouth, a mirror twin of the Broadhurst around the corner and put up within a fortnight of it to the same Herbert J. Krapp plans. It was renamed in 2005 for Gerald Schoenfeld, who ran the Shubert Organization for three decades and is largely responsible for the theatre district existing in its current form at all.

The Shubert Organization and The Broadway League both publish 1,079, which is unusually strong agreement — but the section breakdown attributed to Shubert (653 orchestra, 392 balcony, 24 boxes) sums to 1,069, and 1,084 with the 15 standing places. Since it is impossible to say what the 1,079 counts, it is shown here as an approximation. Playbill gives 1,046.

653 seats in the orchestra and 392 in a single balcony, plus twenty-four boxes. One tier, like the Broadhurst, and the same consequence: a long continuous rake whose front rows are the best value in the room. The orchestra is deep and the overhang is substantial, so the rear stalls lose the upper part of the proscenium arch.

The seating map above is the theatre itself, so it holds good whatever is on the stage.
