The City Ground has been Nottingham Forest's home since 1898 and sits on the south bank of the Trent in West Bridgford, a few hundred metres across the water from Notts County's Meadow Lane — two of the closest professional grounds in England. It holds 30,445, and two of its four stands are named after Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, the pair who won consecutive European Cups here in 1979 and 1980. A developer-led expansion towards about 52,000 is at the planning stage.
The Trent End behind the west goal is the newest stand, from 1994, and the home end. The Brian Clough Stand runs along the main touchline and is the natural first choice for a clean view. The Peter Taylor Stand faces it. The Bridgford Stand at the far end is the one to look at carefully: planning constraints kept its roof unusually low, and the club has lived with that for three decades. Away support sits in part of it.
