The oldest theatre still operating on Broadway, opened in 1903, and the great Art Nouveau interior of the American stage — the Ziegfeld Follies ran here for two decades. It spent 1937 to 1983 as a cinema and then sat derelict until Disney signed a ninety-nine-year lease in 1993 and spent two years restoring it; the building itself is publicly owned by the city and state of New York.
