Bahrain International Circuit at Sakhir opened in 2004 as the first Grand Prix venue in the Middle East, and has been F1's traditional season-opener and pre-season test base. The lap is a stop-and-go desert layout: three long straights, three heavy braking zones and a very abrasive surface that punishes tyres.

The 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix was cancelled in March and later relocated to Sepang, Malaysia (2–4 October). No race is being held at Sakhir in 2026.

The main grandstand is the largest and covers the start, the pit lane and the podium; the Turn 1 stands see the biggest braking zone of the lap and most of the overtaking; the Batelco stands look over the fast Turn 9–10 section. Races run into the evening under floodlights, so the seat's relation to the setting sun matters for the first hour.
