Built on the Île Notre-Dame in the St Lawrence river for 1978 and named after Gilles Villeneuve, this is a low-grip, walls-close semi-permanent circuit of long straights and hard braking zones. The final chicane onto the pit straight is guarded by the concrete slab known as the Wall of Champions.

The island layout means most grandstands sit on the outside of braking zones — which is exactly where the racing happens. The hairpin at Turn 10 is the biggest overtaking opportunity and the loudest stand. The final chicane and pit straight combination lets you watch the Wall of Champions, the start and the podium from one seat. Trees and fencing vary a lot along the back section.
