The Santiago Bernabéu reopened in 2024 after a €1.76 billion rebuild that wrapped the old bowl in a steel-and-concrete shell, added a retractable pitch and a 360° interior screen, and closed the roof. It is the only stadium in the world to have hosted a European Cup or Champions League final four times (1957, 1969, 1980 and 2010) plus a Copa Libertadores final, a European Championship final and a World Cup final.

The rebuild changed what a given seat is worth. The new upper rings are much steeper and higher than the ones they replaced, so a mid-height seat in Lateral or Preferencia now looks down on the pitch rather than across it; the lowest rows of the first tier sit close but see a compressed pitch, and part of the lower rings behind both goals are now demountable structures.
